Joana Zylbersztajn
Joana Zylbersztajn is a human rights lawyer who graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and specialized in social communication at the same university. She also holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in constitutional law from the University of São Paulo and is the author of the book “The Brazilian Secular State.”
At the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States, Joana served as the chief advisor to the Commissioners and coordinated the section responsible for precautionary measures. She also worked in the management of human rights policies while holding leadership positions in the Brazilian federal government and in the city of São Paulo. Additionally, she has collaborated with civil society organizations and was responsible for institutional relations in private companies.
Currently, Joana is a founding partner of Veredas – Human Rights Strategies, a professor at Insper – Institute of Education and Research, and a member of the Arns Commission on Human Rights.
